The U.S. House of Representatives voted Wednesday night to pass the bipartisan debt limit deal, by a vote of 314 -117, and send it on to the U.S. Senate, five days before the nation's default deadline.

Joined in opposition by four Texas Democrats, the “no” votes weren’t enough to sink the proposal, which next heads to the U.S. Senate.

Much of the debt limit bill opposition came from the far right and left wings of Congress, but there were some surprising “no” votes.

The debt agreement, they say, violated a promise to cut spending that secured crucial support for U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
