The 2021 NFL Draft is almost upon us! It s without question the biggest event of the league s offseason, as the next in line of potential superstars will have their names called in Cleveland, Ohio. Success or failure in drafts all comes down to statistics these days, as the emergence of fantasy football has put a bigger emphasis on the numbers. And what are every NFL team and fantasy fan looking to avoid in the draft?
Wilson is the owner of our best college-to-pro projection and our best text analytics projection. Per PFF draft guru Mike Renner in the PFF Draft Guide, “Wilson’s arm is special. He made more NFL throws weekly than any other quarterback in the class.”
Wilson earned a 96.5 PFF grade from a clean pocket last season (best in the class) and managed to mitigate turnover-worthy plays to only 1.2% of his dropbacks despite a 10.9-yard average depth of target the highest depth of the potential first-round signal-callers.
It should also be noted that while he didn’t face much in the way of pressure last season at BYU, Wilson failed to produce a turnover-worthy play in such circumstances, and his average time to throw was just 2.8 seconds, which is right about average in the NFL. The Jets haven’t been consistently good since the days of Joe Namath, and they may have found the second version thereof in Wilson.

The Broncos are extremely unlikely to come away from this draft with Ja Marr Chase, but this year s top WR is a really interesting prospect even if he won t be wearing orange and blue. As I dug into his film, I was surprised that Eric Decker was one of the first players that came to mind. Decker s not a dead ringer, but thinking about his game along with other players like Davante Adams and Michael Crabtree can sketch a pretty good outline the type of WR that Chase projects as.
Being a football fan is quite a one-sided arrangement.
These poor individuals are asked to buy tickets and jerseys, offer unconditional support, and invest their time and dreams into a team for what more often than not offers little or nothing in exchange. Fans get zero say in the players who are signed, how the team practices, who starts on the field, or what plays are called. Go ahead and send a letter to Jed York or Kyle Shanahan.
