Its all beginning tonight. A robust cold front will finally plunge south into the bay area, mostly after midnight tonight. Rain will begin in the north bay, spreading from north to south overnight. Within 24 hours, totals will range from a tenth to half an inch of rain and gusty northwesterlies behind the front will blow up to 30 miles an hour. And the rain will turn to snow in the sierra. Thats why winter storm warnings are up for a foot of snow above 7000 feet. That means it could be slow going if youre headed that way tonight and tomorrow morning.
