Shelley the owner of the deli says he is stunned by what happened. I was making some sandwiches, and all of a sudden, there was a loud explosion. It seemed like a car came over the median and crashed into the building. Shelley it happened around 12 20 this afternoon during the lunch hour. Claremont police say a jeep sped through opera house square, the middle of downtown, struck another vehicle, and into a concrete post, sending it into the building. There was just a thick cloud of smoke. Shelley despite the flying concrete and glass, no one on this crowded street was hurt. We just had a lunch rush, and and it just happened at the right time. Shelley police say the driver of the jeep was 55yearold Patrick Taylor of new york. They arrested him for dwi and for resisting arrest. Business owners li

I think it was a very good reflection of the number of units that the property could yield in the future. It did not an attribute any value to any of the improvements. It did not attribute any value to the subemerged lots. We are only paying for the lots that are dry. Although as you will note in the report about half of the property is actually underwater. So, we are not in a position where we are paying for anything that isnt of value. The conclusion of value puts us at about 50 a square foot for land. I would say in San Francisco, thats a pretty good price. The assumption of development is is approximately 86 units that the whole property could yield if it were a standard residential development. Passed a resolution in support of the purchase and the use of the open Acquisition Fund to reconfirm the paper notes that will be used to finance the purchase. Have been in conversations with some of the developers in the neighborhood about landscape and assessment districts and mechanisms to help fund and maintain that park. We have just secured a 500,000 Planning Grant for the phase. Which was your question about asking if we planned what too do with the space. We need to have a conversation whether we are right size with respect to the park and maintenance and staff. Before you today is a decision that will benefit generations of San Francisco for many many many years to come. You police and the mayor calling this whole thing very bizarre and still at this hour trying to sort out exactly exactly what went down. Heres what we know. It started this afternoon about 2 00 oclock when officers from the 35th district were responding to reports of a driver who had crashed his car into a wall. This was at ninth and olney. Now, officers say that that driver appeared to be incoherent they tried to help him out of the his vehicle when they say the driver got extremely violent and engaged in a fight with the officers and then he somehow managed to get back in to his vehicle, it was a maroon sedan gets back into the car and uses his car essentially as a weapon running down these three officers. He then according to investigators drives to ogontz and stenton where he engages with a fourth officer who he also injures. The good news none of the injuries appear to be life threatening.
