The death of a California Highway Patrol captain, her husband's killing and an arrest for murder has prompted investigators across the country to find an answer as to how they all might be connected.

A Napa man arrested at Sacramento International Airport last week has been indicted for murder in Kentucky in connection with a death investigation that spans three states.

Julie V. Harding, 49, was found dead Saturday at a home in Celina, Tennessee, but no foul play is suspected.

An indictment has been filed against 60-year-old Thomas O'Donnell of Napa for the murder of a California Highway Patrol captain's husband, but friends of 53-year-old Michael Harding are still left with many questions surrounding the circumstances of the deadly shooting.

Some friends that knew the Hardings well are now saying in the final year the relationship turned sour, describing it as toxic and troubling. As CBS13 learned Thursday, one friend was concerned enough about Julie and Michael's relationship to get the police involved last year.

Thomas O’Donnell is the man authorities placed under arrest in Sacramento County on Dec. 8 in connection with the killing of former CHP captain Julie Harding's husband, Michael Harding, in Kentucky.
