St. Petersburg’s appointment of Brother John Muhammad to its council has Gulf Coast Jews playing catch-up in community relations.

Brother John Muhammad once said the antisemitic Nation of Islam leader “made some corrections about the activity of Jews.”

The extremist group waved swastika flags and antisemitic flags during the conservative movement’s conference in Tampa, Florida.

“No family should be confronted with threatening symbols of hate, least of all on vacation,” said museum chair Michael Igel.
