For decades, Jewish groups have criticised monuments that celebrate Ukrainian veterans in Canada.

An Oakville cemetery is once again facing calls to remove a monument that pays tribute to a Ukrainian unit that was recently thrust into the spotlight when controversy erupted over a decision to honour one of its veterans in the House of Commons.

Last week, 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka was publicly acknowledged in the Canadian House of Commons. Introduced by House Speaker Anthony Rota during an event featuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Hunka was commended as a dual hero, both Ukrainian and Canadian, who fought against the Russians during the Second World War. Binded by russophobia and support of Ukraine, the whole parliament, including from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave two long and hearty standing ovations to Hunka. Zel...
