Opelika, Ala.: Re “The Tuskegee syphilis study’s shame echoes today” (op-ed, July 25): The Tuskegee abomination wasn’t a study. To dignify it thusly is injurious, inaccurate and insulting. Educated professionals engaged in criminal behavior. They lied, they withheld available penicillin and they salved their corrupt consciences by providing uneducated and impoverished men free hot lunches, free transportation to and from the hospital and free burials.

Slidell, La.: In response to Voicer Paul Matthews’ nonsensical rhetoric, a completely comical reference to Karl Marx’s alleged dogma, as updated and re-written by Paul, herein re-stated that “in order for Marxism to subtly and covertly take over a society, it’s paramount to feminize boys”: Please, Paul, cite a reference to any of Marx’s writings where he promotes the feminization of boys.

Manhattan: In this “defund the police” environment, is every NYC citizen now expected, at the peril of losing his/her job and possibly his/her life, to take on the responsibility of law enforcement? The members of the parole board who granted parole to Brandon Elliot and let him loose again to prey on society are the ones who should lose their jobs — and their immunity from lawsuits as well.
