Seniors Morgan Ham made up the bulk of the scoring leading the Yellow Jackets with 20 and 11 points apiece, respectively. In the first quarter of play the Yellow Jackets started out hot scoring 18 seconds into the game on a Megan Engesser layup. However, the team would slow down on scoring following that layup and fall behind by seven points 7-14 with under 4 minutes left to play in the quarter at which point BHSU would go on a 9-2 scoring run that would run into the second quarter of play.

The South Dakota Mines men’s basketball team found itself in a bit of a hole down the stretch and just ran out of time as the Hardrockers dropped a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference bout to the UCCS Mountain Lions, 67-55, Friday night in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After leading by just one point at halftime, 31-30, the Mountain Lions broke the stalemate over the final 20 minutes, outscoring the visitors, 36-25, to steal the RMAC victory.

Rockers topped by hot shooting Roadrunners

DENVER — The South Dakota Mines men’s basketball team ran into a hot shooting MSU Denver squad Thursday night during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup in Denver, where the Roadrunners came away with a 72-56 win. The Roadrunners were able to gain the edge Thursday with 13 made 3-pointers. MSUD also held Kolten Mortensen, SDM’s leading scorer, to no points. They led 39-30 at the half and then outscored the visitors, 33-26. The Hardrockers shot 42% from the field Thursday, making 21 of 50 attempts, including 9 of 24 from 3-point range, and converted 5 of 9 free throws. They tallied 29 rebounds, had 14 assists, three steals and two blocks.
