Not only do Charleston and New Mexico sport the same primary uniform colors, black and yellow, but a significant number of United players and coaches have history with both USL Championship franchises. NMU head coach Troy Lesesne both played and served as an assistant for the Battery. United assistant Zach Prince, midfielder Micheal Azira and goalkeeper Alex Tambakis all played for Charleston, the former two winning a league title there in 2012.

NMU made an encore visit to Colorado Springs on Friday and has a return engagement in El Paso scheduled for Saturday. It’s a challenging stretch of three matches in eight days for New Mexico, which dropped the opener of the trip, 3-1, in Colorado Springs. United would likely be content to repeat its most recent performance in Utah – a 1-0 victory on June 4 – but coach Troy Lesesne expects a different show Wednesday night.
