US chipmaker Micron, Gujarat govt ink deal for semiconductor plant, Ashwini Vaishnaw says, 'historic day for India'

Gujarat government and Micron Technology have signed an MoU to establish a semiconductor chip manufacturing plant in Gujarats Sanand. Micron will invest $2.5 billion in the facility, which is expected to create 20,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.

Gujarat government, US firm Micron sign MoU for semiconductor plant in Sanand

โ€‹โ€‹ The MoU was signed in the presence of Electronics & Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, a government release said. For the last many decades India is dependent upon import of semiconductor chips and the demand for them will increase as the manufacturing sector in the country grows, it said.

Micron signs MoU with Gujarat government for semiconductor plant at Sanand, ET Telecom

Micron: The Boise, Idaho-headquartered company said the upcoming facility in the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Sanand will be a fully integrated one wherein wafers would go in and finished DRAM and RAM products would come out.
