How Romsey Covid infections have changed since lockdown

COVID infection rates across Romsey and Test Valley are coming under control since the start of the pandemic, despite some areas still seeing rising cases. An interactive Government map has shown that since January 5 - when the third national lockdown started - Test Valley had 12 areas where cases were rising. According to a map on the government coronavirus dashboard, in the week to March 2, when the latest figures were available, just two areas saw an increase in infections. These were Abbotswood and West Wellow and Chilbolton, Clatford and Barton Stacey. Nine places across the borough had fewer than three cases, meaning they have been classed as suppressed.

The figures from Public Health England are available on a map on the Government coronavirus dashboard. The tool breaks down infections in England into Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs), small areas with an average population of 7,200. For each MSOA, the map shows the number of cases recorded in a week, the change compared to the week before and the rate of new cases per 100,000 people. The six areas below recorded three or more cases in the week ending on March 2: Salisbury Town North & Milford (3 cases; -6 on previous week; rolling rate of 49.1) Fordingbridge, Rockbourne & Woodgreen (3 cases; -3 on previous week; rolling rate of 27.9)

The infection rate in the district currently stands at 149.7 infections per 100,000 people in the seven days to February 14, down from 212.3 the week before. The national average in England is 74.4, so Bradford s rate is still more than double the national average and has some way to go to bring infections down to an acceptable level, but it is moving in the right direction.
