Green energy and educational opportunities at new innovation park on former Elstow landfill site

Bedford Independent SEMLEP’s site visit to Bedford Green Technology & Innovation Park 1,800 solar panels are being installed at a new green innovation park that is transforming a former landfill site in Elstow, Bedfordshire. The Bedford Green Technology and Innovation Park will sit on a 30-hectare site and is planned to be completed in early 2022. Work has commenced on the site after Bedford Borough Council was awarded more than £1.8million from the South East Midlands Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) Getting Building Fund last year, enabling plans for the all-new Bedford Green Technology and Innovation Park to become a reality. Work to cap the closed 30-hectare site with clay began last year and the 1,800 solar panels will generate and supply onsite buildings and local businesses with low carbon, clean energy.
