In an environmental crisis unfolding in Denmark, a landslide of contaminated soil is inching dangerously close to a vital water source.

After nine days, Nordic Waste - the company that operated the site - gave up on getting the landslide under control.

We may have just entered 2024 but after a quick glimpse at the music charts youd be forgiven for thinking it was 2004. 

In Denmark, a landslide of contaminated soil could become a slow-moving environmental disaster. Near the city of Randers, a large mound of soil containing heavy metals and oil products broke out from a waste reprocessing plant and is heading in the direction of a village. It's also raising concerns about water contamination. The World's Carolyn Beeler spoke to Kristian

Denmark's government said Friday it had opened an inquiry to determine who was responsible for a contaminated waste landslide threatening the environment in the west of the country."We need to determine whether the management, the owners or other people or companies at and around Nordic Waste can be held responsible for the damage that has occurred," Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke told reporters.
