WEST PLAINS – Missouri Governor Mike Parson and West Plains Mayor Mike Topliff have expressed support for Community Action by proclaiming the month of May Community Action Month. Gov. Parson's proclamation was dated May 3, while the proclamation from the city of West Plains was dated May 24. Both proclamations were presented to the Ozark Action Inc. (OAI) board of directors during their meeting on Tuesday, May 24, with Mayor Topliff attending the meeting in person to deliver the city proclamation. May is Community Action Month across the United States. Ozark Action, Inc. is a non-profit Community Action Agency founded in 1965 to serve the counties of Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Texas, and Wright in South-Central Missouri to coordinate and provide services for people with needs so that they can improve their quality of life. WEST PLAINS, MO – Earlier this week, staff from Ozarks Healthcare and Mid-America Transplant joined West Plains Mayor Mike Topliff at Ozarks Healthcare's Medical Office Building as he signed a proclamation declaring April as Donate Life Month in the city of West Plains. Through Ozarks Healthcare in 2021 alone, ten families were served through organ donors and up to 375 lives were saved resulting from tissue and eye donors. Ozarks Healthcare works closely with Mid-America Transplant to enable adults and children to receive lifesaving gifts through organ and tissue donations. Mid-America Transplant coordinates organ, tissue, and eye donation, and now serves 84 counties covering eastern Missouri, southern Illinois, and northeast Arkansas that together are home to 4.7 million people. Representative David Paul Evans was sworn in this past week on January 6 as the Missouri General Assembly began its 101
st Session in Jefferson City. The ceremony was presided over by State Secretary Jay Ashcroft. Evans states that he is excited to begin his 2
nd two-year term and to tackle several challenging issues facing Missouri including empowering early childhood education, addressing ongoing needs of foster children and foster parents, strengthening election laws, protecting individual freedoms and rights, and addressing a difficult state budget.
