breaking tonight, authorities in las vegas say the person who opened fire on the campus of university of nevada at las vegas unlv this afternoon is dead. police report multiple victims have been taken to area hospitals but they are not saying what their injuries are, at least not yet, nor are they talking about a motive for the shooter. chief correspondent jonathan hunt is following this story from los angeles. good evening, jonathan. good evening, bret. we got the first word from las vegas police that there was an active shooter on the campus of the university of nevada las vegas. almost exactly three hours ago. and unlv officials immediately sent aletters to all students, telling them to run if they could. hide if they had to. fight if they must. the all too familiar advice that so many students caught in the middle of so many shootings have previously heard. vegas police also said early on that there were multiple victims and have since confirmed the number to be 3 that
