talk about markets, spooked this week on the prospect of a trade war. the president saying we have a lot of gains in the stock market, we may have to give some of that back, but we ll be better off in the long term. at cnn and elsewhere, we can walk and chew gum at the same time. this administration may have known they were getting bad jobs news and made sure they got that russian sanctions story out there. both are significant. but this jobs report will get a lot of attention. it will get a lot of attention. i think one of the things that americans are underestimating is the long-term damage of this level of erratic behavior from the white house. you ve got trading partners, military allies who don t think it s smart to bet on america. long term no, long term this is all very, very bad. you can sometimes juice up the stock market with reckless deregulation. you can have a really sugar rush to the economy with some tax cuts. but then long term you ve got bridges falling down, all
we re going to make a deal on naf nafta. i said it for a long time. make a deal or we terminate, and if we do, there s no tariffs on canada. there s no tariffs on mexico. some of the countries we are dealing with are great partners, great military allies, and we re going to be looking at that strongly. the tariffs do not go effective for at least another 15 days. we re going to see who is treating us fairly, who is not. part of that is going to be military. who is paying the bills, who is not paying the bills. we subsidize rich countries with our military, they pay not 100 cents on the dollar or 50 cents on the dollar, and they are massively wealthy countries. we have to stop that. this enters into the equation also. very interesting, i saw a tweet that came in from elon musk who

it would have been a betrayal of his deeper self to not do this. but at the same time again, if you re going to do this, there is a process to it. if you re going to make a move that is going to offend your economic allies, your military allies, there is a process. you get people on the phone. you have mattis make calls, you have tillerson make calls. you have cohn make calls and you prepare it. you just don t have reports that did is raging around the white house late at night because hope hicks is leaving, and then suddenly blurts out i m going to start a trade war. oh, my god. first in response to jon, yes, you re completely right of course but there are many precedents for candidates being one thing as candidates and doing a different thing in office. perhaps tariffs are not the way to solve it. buzz he s fulfilling a campaign
