Lawmakers introduce plan to eliminate Tricare premiums for adult children under 26 January 28 Lawmakers want to eliminate the extra Tricare premiums for young adults up to age 26. (Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Markian R. Carreon/Navy) A proposal to allow adult children to remain covered under their parents’ Tricare plan until age 26 without having to pay an extra premium for a separate Tricare plan has been introduced in Congress. It’s a matter of equity, said Rep. Elaine Luria, D-Va., during a Thursday call with reporters. “In the military family, those using Tricare don’t have the same ability to keep their children on their health care plan until age 26,” unlike other health care plans as required by the Affordable Care Act, she said.

The Republican Study Committee plans to introduce six school choice measures in the House on Thursday in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has shuttered schools across the country.
“These [committee] members recognize that if Congress had placed a greater emphasis on school choice, parents and students could’ve been freer to avoid the debacle of virtual learning last fall,” Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., said in a statement provided to The Daily Signal.
