stupider or done things that are more ridiculous, but the way he has talked about mccraven since this first became a controversy is really one of the most is easily the most appalling and yes of course if barack obama did any of those things there would have been calls for and i would imagine moves for his impeachment among republicans almost instantly. of course they do not do the same for donald trump. i just do i think one of the most interesting pieces of polling that i ve seen in this period right after the election or right leading into the election was the notion that trump s support among uniformed officers, among people who are currently serving in the military is finally starting to crack a little bit. if you pile up all these things including the deployment to the southern border and the way in which he now talks about mccraven, i do think there is a chance for all of his talk about this and for all of the support he has had from the military in 2016 that trump is actual
fevered swamp of conspiracy theories. you talk about trumpism. and rick scott and donald trump, they re arm and arm and shoulder to shoulder saying that it s a conspiracy for every vote to be counted. the bush recount, at least what we were doing in northwest florida, we were fighting like help to make sure every military vote got counted. that s what we were trying to do. and it was the democratic lawyers back then that were trying to stop the that. i know. i was there for 38 long days. and we make sure every vote was counted. 18 years later, marco rubio actually wants the make sure that florida citizens votes aren t counted. rick scott is freaking out. he doesn t want ballots to be counted. donald trump this is third
hidecamp. those races in montana. jon tester, matt rosendale neck and neck. 95% of vote has come in. however, we haven t called the race because more than a quarter of that vote is still out. look at the advantage that jon tester has. we want to see what happens. we get down to arizona. this is not looking as good as perhaps montana is for democrats. martha mcsally has a lead in arizona right now. a quarter of the vote is out. mail in vote, military vote, what have you. we ll see what happens down there. a lot going on right now in the senate. when we get across to the house this is where things get very interesting. let s see where we are. this is where democrats have done incredibly well so far. right now if you look at it, they have 229 seats. they can add to that total. republicans with 206.
there are lots of states where there are lots of civilian employees that are going to be hurt by this. this is a matter of priori prioriti priorities. the president decided the united states could borrow the money for a big increase in military spending and did have funds in the trieasury to offer tax breaks. let s be crass. there is not a single vote that he would get if he somehow said i m giving a raise to all federal workers. but the military vote does help him. part of the federal workforce that identifies with republicans is military. the rest of the workforce will get a raise because they ll not separate the two, which is my guess. and it s about priorities. the money is there, he just wants to spend it on certain things and not other things. up ahead, inside president trump s war on google, plus a new outrage at the border. why are more and more hispanic american citizens being denied their passports? g denied their passports? got directions to the nightclub here.
are interested in the democratic party and there s also a reason why more and more veterans are running for office as democrats. i think that the g.o.p. is right to feel like they are back on their heels on this issue. jon: do you make any predictions? we are not back on our heels, we have a fantastic record that we can both seek current military and veterans. we are not worried at all, we take no constituency for granted, we are not rocking back on our heels and we look forward to the debates that are going to happen in the fall as to where the military vote will go. jon: it s going to be an interesting election in 2018. to say nothing of 2020. thank you both. julie: of the latest republican battle, the establishment versus the outsider. alabama senator luther strange versus judge roy moore in a primary runoff. just how big are the stakes were president trump and the g.o.p.? our political panel is on deck.
