ALTON Vernon Curvey has been named assistant principal for Alton High School.
“My goal will be to do my part in helping the district and staff, its families and students establish what success looks like for each, and work to obtain that success,” he said.
Curvey graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. In December 1987 he earned his Certificate to teach Secondary Mathematics from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and worked as a claims adjuster for Millers Mutual Insurance Agency.
He began his teaching career in with the high school in 2001 as a mathematics instructor. He also served as the head boys and girls cross country coach and assistant boys track coach. In 2013, he earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Education Administration from SIUE.
