Former Columbus Chief Financial Officer Milton Rawle has passed away in prison. The Rankin County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Milton Rawle died while in custody at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility on Saturday. Rawle pleaded guilty to embezzlement on February 23, 2021. He was found guilty of transferring nearly $300,000.
In the wake of a devastating Fiscal Year 2020 audit report, Chief Financial Officer James Brigham said at a Wednesday press conference the city is already working to correct the problems, estimating it would take about six months to get it all under control.
