More than 80% of residents age 65 and older have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as MHS opens a walk-in clinic on Saturday

More than 80% of residents age 65 and older have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as MHS opens a walk-in clinic on Saturday More than 80% of state residents age 65 and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  This is a promising sign, as the age group is among the most susceptible to severe complications from the virus. But the vaccination rate among Black residents — another group hit especially hard by COVID-19 — continues to lag. Just over 12% of Black residents are fully vaccinated compared with 29% for white residents. Milwaukee Health Services — the second-largest community-health center in the city — is holding its first walk-in vaccine clinic on Saturday as part of the push to close that gap.
