THE Energy Chamber is remembering Energy Minister Franklin Khan as a passionate man who enjoyed developing young talent.
Khan died on Saturday morning and members of the government, opposition and those in the energy industry, among many others, have been sending condolences to his friends and family.
In a release, the chamber said it worked closely with the late senator for decades.

Energy Minister Franklin Khan dies
This was confirmed to Newsday by Communications Minister Symon de Nobriga.
Khan died on Saturday morning. He had a history of heart-related issues.
The following is a statement issued by the communications minister: It is with a deep sense of sadness that we announce the death of Minister of Energy and Energy Industries the Hon Franklin Khan. Minister Khan passed away peacefully at home early this morning. The Government of Trinidad and Tobago extend our sincerest condolences to his family at this time and will keep them in our collective thoughts and prayers. Minister Khan was a former Chairman of the People’s National Movement. He served as Minister of Works and Transport from 2002 to 2005, and as Member of Parliament for Ortoire/Mayaro from 2002 to 2007.

RURAL Development and Local Government Minister Kazim Hosein expressed shock and sadness at the passing of Energy Minister Franklin Khan having spoken to him just hours before on Friday.
“The man was in high spirits when we talked last night. He did not sound as though he was ill or anything,” said Hosein who may have been one of the last people to talk with Khan on Friday night.
Hosein who served with Khan in the Senate, told Newsday he called Khan around 9.45 pm to seek his advice but got no response.
Paray, Rambharat pay tribute to Mayaro ‘homeboy’ Franklin Khan

Mayaro MP Rushton Paray and Agriculture Minister Clarence Rambharat have paid tribute to Energy Minister Franklin Khan who died suddenly overnight Friday.
In a tribute to “hometown boy” Khan, Paray, on Saturday, joined with the constituency in expressing condolences.
“Mr Khan was born in the Mayaro community and served as MP for the constituency. As a product of an oil district, he was attracted to the industry and studied geology. His subsequent ministerial portfolios included Energy and Energy Industries.
“Throughout his years in public service, he retained great affinity to the communities of Mayaro, Guayaguayare and surrounding areas.”
