Health Minister Oscar Ugarte welcomed their acquisition by the Pan American and Parapan American Games Special Legacy Project.
With this new equipment, Minsa has quadrupled the number of oxygen plants in the face of a potential third wave of COVID-19 outbreaks. I thank the Legacy Project and the Ministry of Transport and Communications for the rapid acquisition of these 4 plants, out of 20, which will help meet the oxygen demand nationwide, he said.
The minister emphasized that Peru relied on 63 oxygen plants when the Transition and Emergency Government took office back in November 2020. During the second wave, the oxygen deficit dropped to 150 tons per day, which started to decline in April as we began to acquire oxygen plants, which are vital to save lives, Ugarte added.
