The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of BELTRAIDE, celebrated its fifth anniversary on Monday, October 7, 2019. To celebrate this accomplishment and milestone, BTEC held an anniversary ceremony at its office in Belize City. There, the Hon. Tracy Taegar Panton, Minister of State for Investment, Trade & Commerce, gave an emotional and heartfelt thank you to the team BTEC, including its Director, Christine Smith.
The minister stated in her address that while BELTRAIDE does a lot of excellent work as it relates to nation building, she has a “soft spot” for BTEC and their work. This is likely because of the more than 1,600 lives that they have touched over the course of five years, and the lives that they continue to touch as their works carry on. But Minister Panton continued that BTEC planted seeds in each person for which the effects, and those seeds “help a family, a community, a country.” Of those 1,600 persons who have been involved in job preparedness t
