International Road Federation: IRF moots GST cut on helmets to promote usage to reduce road fatalities, ET Auto

“The helmet usage in our country has been found to be low. It has been noticed that most of the two-wheeler riders fall in economically weaker and lower income groups and prefer to purchase helmets which are cheaper and inferior in quality. Many of these helmets are not capable of saving a rider’s life, in case of an accident,” K K Kapila, President Emeritus, International Road Federation (IRF), said.

Society Of Indian Automobile Manufacturers: SIAM is collaborating with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan for a nationwide educational drive. Under the ‘SIAM Surakshit Safar (Safe Journey)’ initiative, it has developed comprehensive road safety study materials for various age groups and classes containing the 4E’s (Engineering, Education, Enforcement, and Emergency response) of road safety. These materials are to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for responsible road behaviour, SIAM said.
