REGIONAL The Minnesota Department of Health recorded eight new deaths and 727 more residents testing positive for COVID-19 during the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Monday.
Among the eight deaths were seven individuals who resided in private residences and one who was a resident of a long-term care or assisted living facility. The death toll from the virus in Minnesota now stands at 6,106, including 3,877 residents of long-term care facilities.
The number of new COVID-19 cases in the area remained low, with Pipestone County recording three new positive tests, followed by Jackson and Rock counties with two new cases each, Cottonwood County with one new case and Nobles and Murray counties reporting no new cases during the 24-hour period.

REGIONAL Murray County recorded its sixth death from complications of COVID-19, according to Friday s report issued by the Minnesota Department of Health.
The death, recorded during the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. Thursday, was an individual between the ages of 90 and 94. No other information is available.
Nobles County recorded 15 new positive or probable cases of COVID-19 during the 24-hour reporting period, while Jackson County added seven new cases, Cottonwood, Murray and Rock counties each added six, and Pipestone County added four new cases.
Statewide, 1,525 new cases of the novel coronavirus were reported during the 24-hour period, along with 21 deaths. Among the dead were nine individuals who resided in private residences, 11 who were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities, and one individual who was homeless or sheltered.
