Irish aid agency GOAL receives EU funding to expand its support programme to refugee communities in Turkey Format 15 Apr 2021 Humanitarian Aid agency, GOAL, has expanded its protection work in Turkey supporting vulnerable nomadic and semi-nomadic refugees and migrant seasonal agriculture workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. With €2.5 million continued funding from European Union Humanitarian Aid, the project titled ‘Facilitating Marginalized and Vulnerable Populations Access to Services (LINK)’ will reach more than 15,000 people by September 2021, starting with offering services to vulnerable people in Mersin Province. During the first phase of the LINK project from December 2018 to August 2020, GOAL supported 25,910 refugees in Ankara, and 14,323 migrant seasonal agricultural workers and refugees from nomadic backgrounds in Adana, Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep with individual protection assistance, community-based outreach, counselling, referrals, vouchers, and in-kind assis

Irish aid agency GOAL supporting more than 80,000 people affected by conflict in the Ethiopian Tigray region Format © GOAL Irish aid agency GOAL is responding with vital nutrition and health support to more than 80,000 people affected by the recent conflict in Tigray in northern Ethiopia. The conflict, which erupted in November, has worsened fragile living conditions in the region already impacted by drought and desert locust swarms. Millions of people have been left dependent on humanitarian aid. According to the World Food Programme, more than 2.5 million people need immediate support following the armed conflict. The Government’s National Disaster Risk Management Commission, (NDRMC), in collaboration with partners including GOAL, are supporting affected communities.
