The NBL has stood down South East Melbourne Phoenix co-captain Mitch Creek after he was charged with allegedly assaulting a woman last year.
Creek, who previously played in the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves between 2018-2019, will not train or play with his NBL club until further notice by the league.

Basketball Australia is also investigating the matter, potentially impacting the former NBA player s hopes of featuring for the Boomers at this year s Tokyo Olympics. Creek was one of 24 players named in the Boomers squad.

One of Australia’s top basketballers, Mitch Creek, has been charged by police with intentionally causing injury and other offences after allegedly assaulting a woman at her Melbourne home.
Mr Creek is a star player and co-captain of the South East Melbourne Phoenix in the National Basketball League, has played in the NBA in the United States, competed in the World Cup and is in the running to represent Australia at this year’s Tokyo Olympics.

Mr Creek, 28, had been charged on summons with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury and unlawful assault over an incident in Melbourne’s western suburbs on November 22 last year.
