Thousands of workers remain on strike across the United States demanding higher pay and better conditions despite Hollywood make-up artists and camera operators reaching a deal over the weekend to avoid a walkout, and the tight jobs market has only emboldened them.

UAW John Deere members are now on strike as of midnight Thursday, Oct. 14.

Union employees walked off their jobs Thursday morning in an act of solidarity against the world's largest farm equipment manufacturer.

United Auto Workers International issued a statement that John Deere members went on strike at midnight after talks with Deere & Co., at Moline, Illinois, had failed to reach an agreement. The strike comes after talks between the union and Deere broke down on a new contract.
