they were used in the fight around benghazi earlier today. we re told tactical air missions near benghazi, no f-22 raptors have been used at the site, i m told. there were four b-2s sent from whiteman air base in missouri. it s a direct flight. they refueled in mid air. each dropped 16 bombs, i m told. there are no plans at this point in time, according to a senior u.s. defense official, to change the parameters of the mission. the parameters of the mission right now i as the u.s. military understands is not to target qaddafi directly. when i asked the official whether that meant that qaddafi could be targeted, say, by the french as members of the coalition with the u.s. in command and control of this mission, the senior u.s. defense official told me that the french are doing their own thing out there right now, and so he did not rule out that the french could target qaddafi directly, but again, u.s. war planes will not be targeting qaddafi directly. the president, i m also told,
is going straight to the international court and face criminal charges for crimes against humanity. shannon: k.t., he is making representations or those with him in his administration to state tv that they are now sort of unlocking the sheds of weapons that they have available. that they hope to arm a million libyans to fight back. first of all, do they have that kind of weaponry and, second, would the people take those weapons and fight for or against him? look what s happened so far. the thing about qaddafi is he has been very careful at playing off his people one against each other for 40 years. there is no alternative to clan qaddafi in libya. not like egypt where there was a military a well respected independent military that could take charge in the absence of mubarak and get through transition until a new government is formed. with qaddafi it s qaddafi or nothing. the military is not well respected independent organization. police forces aren t. there is no real middle class
