5G was launched in India and telecom providers have already started to roll out the service to the selected customers of Airtel and Jio in selected markets. With 600 megabits per second during the 5G launch phase, smartphones are expected to function very similarly to professional computers.

Currently, Airtel 5G services are rolling out in 8 cities including -- Delhi, Varanasi, Nagpur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai and Siliguri. Pan India rollout, Airtel confirmed to rollout 5G services by March 2024.

PM Narendra Modi will launch 5G services in India on October 1 at the inaugural day of the India Mobile Congress 2022. During his Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the Prime Minister had said that the 5G services would be launched in India soon.

5G is the fifth-generation mobile network capable of transmitting a large set of data at a very rapid speed. In comparison to 3G and 4G, 5G has a very low latency which will enhance user experiences in various sectors. Low latency describes the efficiency to process a very high volume of data messages with a minimal delay.
