Edgar Berlanga not only went to his first second round as a professional, but he went the full distance for the first time.
Berlanga’s run of 16 straight first round knockouts to start his career came to an end, as a tough and game Demond Nicholson proved exactly the step up veteran opponent many felt the Puerto Rican prospect needed. Berlanga scored four official knockdowns of Nicholson, but went the full eight-round distance.
Official scores were 79-68, 79-69, and 79-69. Bad Left Hook scored the fight 79-69 on two separate unofficial score cards, as well.

Top Rank returned with Navarrete vs Diaz this weekend.
Emmanuel Navarrete defended his WBO Featherweight title for the first time, as he finally broke down the tough as nails Christopher Diaz to score a final round stoppage win.
The fight topped a card in front of a partisan crowd at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida, on a Top Rank promoted bill. Navarrete was coming off a tougher than expected points win against Ruben Villa to win the vacant title in October 2020, while Diaz was challenging for a world title for a second time.
The brave Diaz took a lot of punishment here, but was spirited and competitive, down four times in all before being rescued by his corner with just eleven seconds of the contest remaining.

Emanuel Navarrete vs. Christopher Diaz: Prediction of the fight, card, probability, how to see, time to start
Emanuel Navarrete is somehow pushing back the fighters of yesteryear. Unlike most world-class title fighters, Navarette is very active, fighting 11 times since 2018. Despite that activity, Navarette will play for the first time since October Saturday night against former title challenger Christopher Diaz. From the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida (
22:00 ET, ESPN).
Navarret (32-1, 27 KOs) won his first world championship in December 2018, defeating Isaac Dogboe in the WBO weight bantamweight. He would successfully defend the title next year against Dogboe in the first defenses of four 2019 titles. A further defense of the title would continue until the start of 2020 before Navarret went on to be a featherweight, in a decision that won the then-empty WBO title in a win over Ruben Villa.
