The Election Commission of India has issued an advisory for the Lok Sabha elections, warning against violations of the Model Code of Conduct. It prohibits appeals based on caste, religion, or language and cautions against statements without factual basis or misleading voters. The advisory also warns against ridiculing devotee-deity relations or suggesting divine censure.

The EC warned the parties to maintain decorum in public campaigning and put additional responsibility on star campaigners and candidates, especially those who were issued notices in the past.
