The BJP, led by party chief JP Nadda and accompanied by Union minister Bhupender Yadav and election cell head Om Pathak, has submitted its recommendations to the committee led by former President Ram Nath Kovind on one nation, one election. Nadda proposed having the same voters list for all elections.

Briefing reporters, Nadda said his party has proposed that if holding the three-tier polls together was not possible immediately, then Lok Sabha and assembly elections can be held together first.

The visit is crucial as dates for the general elections are expected to be announced in less than a month, triggering the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) which will restrict the Union government’s ability to announce the deal.
