Posted by Oldiron on 26/01/2021 16:33:18: Would it be a major job to make your own nut. I presume you have the spindle so will have thread size & cone angle. Most other dimensions can be a compromise. It might be good to look at the item about which he is talking - see Jasons link. It spins at 12,000 rpm. For an item engineered to work in proper balance at that high speed, the ┬г60 quoted above is a bargain. I did look. But that ┬г60 is for a collett & nut. The OP did just ask for a nut so the ...

If you are happy swapping belts to change speed, either swapping to a single phase motor or using a Static converter are cheaper options than a VFD + motor swap or rotary converter. The 3 phase motor on my Boxford shaper was 415V only & the star point is buried deep - as I had a single phase motor with the same frame size to hand, I swapped out the motor. A bit "grumblier" in operation than a 3 phase motor, but it shifts metal just fine. A Clarke PC20 static converter was purchased to run a sm...

Editors have no control over this, scheduling is done centrally across all magazines. Magazines are mailed out in advance of general sale, and normally arrive around Monday or Tuesday before an on sale date on the following Friday. It is clear that the Royal Mail...

I dont understand.... on the one hand I thought that as of now, the minimum tax threshold for VAT/ excise/import duties was to be reduced from ┬г15 to zero therefore VAT etc. is now payable on all purchases via online market places offshore vendors etc.... On the other hand, this link seems to imply the minimum tax threshold for offshore purchases is ┬г135.00?? Or have I just misinterpreted? I am clearly in a post seasonal brain fog of too much food n booze so could someone that understands ...

The Perris came with original 1/4" ribbed (cross belt) belts - I seem to recall that there was similar on my Flexispeed but it came with no motor so dont know if it was original - I would assume driven just like the Perris with a cross shaft driven by motor on a hinged support so that weight tensions the drive belt - the spindle runs in cast iron (be very careful on tightening these as too easy to crack them) so not really designed for high speed + keep well oiled - you need the cross shaft to ...
