Some better angle shots would be most helpful George, for example face-on with the camera about 4 feet away at a height between the top and bottom shaft. Handle end and working end. That would show the relationship of the various workings quite well. Your first view of the extra pics would be pretty good if the camera wasnt held so high. You know, until the pic with the guys hand on the top adjuster even the scale was difficult to tell. I thought it was a floor-standing item.

How to spoil the cross slide of a Myford by letting the dieholder handles strike the machined surfaces, not the way I was trained to do a job like that. In my working days a batch of a hundred or more alloy knobs would be polished on an old lathe, previously they had been turned to a good finish, a "flat" file would be used ,this was a file with the usual wooden handle, all the file teeth had been ground off on a surface grinder, one could easily be made from a length of BMS, the handle is essenti...

Posted by Derek Lane on 06/05/2021 23:16:41: Has he tried the Blackgate engineering catalogue at the bottom there is a list of wheels but you will have to know the size and other information to see if they have a match I think heтАЩs tried them on the тАШphone. With no computer, he cannot check the list, but I will ask if there was any wheel that could be substituted. AFAIK, itтАЩs a question of crank throw. It appears that 5тАЭ Firefly wheels are used now in new builds, but the throw isnтАЩ...

John, There are abrasives and abrasives, Use depends on the duty. Look up the Mhos scale. Talc is not particularly abrasive, but diamond will scratch everything else. The Mhos scale refers mainly to minerals, but put simply one requires a harder material to abrade any object. The mild corrosion on tooling will have a different hardness and so may well be abraded by a mineral which will not abrade the steel. ItтАЩs why scotchbrite is used to polish up a finish rather than grinding away the ...

Ive had a CK Parallel-Grip Perfect for many years which does have true parallel jaw movement but only a sliding sleeve to set size relying on friction to hold it in place. Grip is decent but not as good as the real thing. Appears to be discontinued. The Stahlwille 65622250 in the misterworker link from DC31k has the same pivot geometry so should be properly parallel. Geodore do a similar one as type 137 P with, apparently the same pivot arrangment. Looks to be a bit more expensive than the Stah...
