PESHAWAR: Leaders of various political parties have expressed concern about the growing energy crisis in the country and urged the federal government to take immediate steps for the smooth supply of electricity and natural gas to industrial and domestic consumers.
In separate statements and media talk, Pakistan Peoples Party provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan, Qaumi Watan Party provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao and Tehreek-i-Istiqlal central president Rehmat Khan Wardag said the government’s poor performance could be judged from the prevailing energy crisis in the country.
They said the suspension of the supply of natural gas had led to the closure of CNG stations and industrial units.
PESHAWAR: The opposition parties here on Saturday rejected the confidence vote cast in favour of Prime Minister Imran Khan during a National Assembly session and asked him to judge his party position by holding fresh general elections.
“The premier has lost courage after defeat of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf candidate Hafeez Shaikh by Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, a joint candidate of opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement, and using very derogatory language against his rival politicians,” they said.
Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Awami National Party’s former senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz provincial secretary information Ikhtiar Wali Khan and Pakistan Peoples Party provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan said in their separate statements that the loss of one seat in the Senate election had baffled Imran Khan.
PESHAWAR: The leaders of opposition parties have expressed reservations over promulgation of presidential ordinance for ‘open vote’ in the Senate elections, describing it an attempt to push the country towards constitutional crisis.
In their separate statements here on Monday, ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan and PPP provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan said that the ordinance was tantamount to disgrace of Constitution and parliament.
The ANP chief said that the session of parliament was prorogued for promulgating the ordinance. He said that rulers should stop the tactics to pressurise judiciary and let the Supreme Court decide the case.
