Inner bar dredging of Mongla Port begins

DHAKA, March 13, 2021 (BSS) – The inner bar dredging of Mongla Port began today aiming at increasing the port’s capacity to ensure smooth arrival of ships with a draft of 9.5 metres to 10 metres at the port jetty.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury inaugurated the dredging project “Inner Bar Dredging of Mongla Port Channel” at Jaymonir Ghol in Mongla.
Khulna City Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleq, Deputy Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Habibun Nahar, Secretary of Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, Chairman of Mongla Port Authority Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa and Project Director Sheikh Shawkat Ali were present at the inaugural function, among others.

DHAKA, Feb 7, 2021 (BSS) – Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi today said Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has created the field of blue economy after the independence of the country.
“His (Bangabandhu) worthy daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has established a significant domination on the country’s unlimited resources over an area of 1,18,000 square kilometers in the Bay resolving border disputes with its neighbouring countries within just four years,” he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled ‘Bangabandhu’s Philosophy and Blue Economy (Bangabandhur Dorshon O Sunil Orthoniti)’ marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation, said a press release.
