IPOH: A total 33,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have arrived safely in Perak in the first phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the vaccine doses will be sent to four vaccine storage centres (PSV) located in Ipoh, Lumut, Taiping and Teluk Intan.
“The vaccines have safely arrived at the PSV located at the Taiping Hospital and the Lumut Navy Base Hospital.
“These vaccines were brought from the storage centre in Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang, ” he told reporters at Jelapang toll here on Wednesday (Feb 24).
Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the vaccination programme is expected to start on March 1.

IPOH, Feb 21: Perak is expected to receive 79,560 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the first phase of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme.
State Health, Environmental Science and Green Technology Committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin said in the first phase, a total of 33,503 frontline staff would receive the vaccine shots. Also included would be Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad and members of the state executive council.
According to Mohd Akmal, a total of 49 vaccination centres (PPV) have been made available throughout the state for the first phase, including the Indera Mulia Stadium, here, while additional locations for the second and third phases will be identified by the district officer.

IPOH: The Perak government has no plans to hold the New Year s Eve countdown celebration.
With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and growing number of cases, state Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi said it was not suitable to hold the event to prevent people from crowding. At the moment we are not holding any events for mass gathering as the conditions are not conducive. We will have a virtual programme through our Tourism Perak official platform for the celebration, she said in a short reply.
When contacted, Tourism Perak chief executive officer Nurmalis Musa said the New Year Eve celebration could not be held after being advised so.
