In yet another exercise to assess the claims of families whose houses were demolished by the Jalandhar Improvement Trust, the administration has come up with a list of electricity connections.
Most families, who lost their houses in Latifpura during the December 9 demolition, shifted to the area after 2000. Having studied the land records since Latifpura’s acquisition in August 1975, Jagtar Singh Sanghera, Chairman, Jalandhar Improvement Trust (JIT), says the claim of the families h

A truck driver who hit and killed four Melbourne police officers while high on drugs told a colleague his boss had 'cleaned his spirit' and rid him of a curse before the crash.
That boss, Connect Logistics manager Simiona Tuteru, faces 82 charges including manslaughter after allegedly directing or requiring Mohinder Singh to work while fatigued.
Singh insisted on delivering by 'this one load' that fatal afternoon in April 2020, fellow truck driver Michael Horrocks told Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

"His pupils were dilated, he seemed pretty terrified and he couldn't stop speaking."
Ms Bajwa told the court that her father feared he was going to be fired from his trucking company job if he didn't attend a meeting with his boss Simon Tuteru.
"I told him he shouldn't go to that meeting because he wasn't fit to drive and needs to see a psychiatrist," she said.
Mr Tuteru, 49, who is the Victorian manager of Connect Logistics, has been charged with four counts of manslaughter over the deaths of the police officers.
But he is facing 82 charges in total, with police alleging he also failed to ensure the safety of other drivers at the trucking company by exceeding their permissible hours behind the wheel.

An Australian man has received a 10-month jail sentence for filming and mocking police officers as they lay dying at a crash scene.
Last month Richard Pusey pleaded guilty to the rare charge of outraging public decency, as well as other offences.
The 42-year-old has already been in custody for nearly 300 days, so he will likely complete his sentence within days.
The sentencing judge called his actions "heartless, cruel and disgraceful".
Pusey's case has stirred huge public anger. Last month, Judge Trevor Wraight said the media had demonised Pusey to the point where he was "probably the most hated man in Australia".
