Afghanistan's media in doom as country loses nearly 60 pc journalists under Taliban rule

Expressing concerns over the situation of journalists in Afghanistan, Reporters Without Borders in its report said that country has lost 39.59 per cent of its media outlets and almost 60 per cent of its journalists since the Taliban took over the South Asian nation on August 15.

Afghanistan: Journalists detained and assaulted amid ongoing insecurity

A female journalist was allegedly assaulted and threatened by Taliban officials on July 20 and another detained on July 26 amid continuing attacks on Afghanistanโ€™s media. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and its affiliate, the Afghan Independence Journalists (AIJA), condemn the assault and detainment of the journalists and call for an immediate investigation into the incidents.
