Monarch Cities News Today

Several rural communities across Michigan have been designated a Monarch City, in recognition of their community initiatives and events to protect monarch butterflies and draw awareness to their plight.

Special gardens and native habitat provide areas that feed and protect imperiled butterflies and other wildlife.

Created in 2015, Monarch City USA works with municipalities across the country, encouraging the planting of milkweed so that monarchs have safe places to stop during the long migration.
