In 2019, Kentucky distillers produced more than 1,7 million barrels of bourbon, nearly a four-fold increase from production levels a decade earlier. So it s no surprise that bourbon has experienced a two-decade boom which has no end in site.
And Kentucky, our neighbor to the north, is at the forefront: the state produces 95% of the world s bourbon supply, according to the Kentucky Distillers Association. Another interesting fact: distilled spirit sales increased 55% after the COVID-19 pandemic began.
In recent years, our area has seen several local distilleries pop up, garnering great support from locals, and drawing visitors from far and wide. We now have Old Glory, MB Roland, Casey Jones and Leatherwood, all close by.

Corey Allen of Sevierville was charged with criminal homicide in connection to the death at 210 Kraft Street, said Sgt. Charles Gill of the Clarksville Police Department.
Allen and the victim were guests at the Salvation Army on Sunday night, officials said.
Allen is a transient and has no ties to Clarksville, Gill reported.
The victim s name will be released after authorities contact his next of kin.
A motive in the slaying and the man s cause of death was not immediately known.
Allen remained in custody Monday morning at the Montgomery County Jail without bond while the killing remained under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information about the slaying to call Detective Benjamin Goble at 931-648-0656, ext. 5232.
