Police say local hybrid terrorist of proscribed outfit LeT was arrested during a search and cordon operation

SRINAGAR, Oct 18: Two migrant labourers were killed after terrorists hurled a grenade at them in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Tuesday, police said. A local “hybrid terrorist” of proscribed outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was arrested for the attack during a search and cordon operation, they said.“Hybrid terrorists” are unlisted

These killings come just days after a Kashmiri Pandit was targeted and killed in the same district, Shopian. 

According to police, suspected terrorists lobbed a grenade into a makeshift tin shed in Hermain village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district in the dead of night on October 17.

The labourers — Monish Kumar and Ram Sagar — were sleeping in their rented accommodation when the grenade was hurled

Taking a serious view of vandalisation of holy statues by four masked miscreants in front of a church in Thakarpur village near Patti in Tarn Taran district, the district administration called a meeting of representatives of different religious groups chaired by Deputy Commissioner Monish Kumar here

High tension prevailed in the Patti area of the district today after four masked miscreants vandalised the statutes in front of a church in Thakarpura village and set ablaze a car parked on the premises.

State Health and Family Welfare Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra said at least 12 mohalla clinics would be made operational in Amritsar from August 15 where primary health services would be provided to patients.
