MURFREESBORO, TN –Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and SurgiCenter (MMC), in conjunction with the MMC Foundation, recently named Kirolos Michael as the first recipient of the prestigious ‘Drs. David and Yolando Chatman Scholarship’. The MMC Foundation and MMC’s Diversity Committee developed a scholarship for local students who are advancing to medical school. Named for Drs. David and Yolando Chatman, this scholarship will hopefully enhance the diversity of the Rutherford .
Two students were injured, one critically, in what Metro Nashville police called an isolated stabbing at Overton High School on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The attack took place shortly before 1 p.m. inside the school at 4820 Franklin Pike and involved two ninth-grade boys, the Metro Nashville Police Department reported.
A motive had not been determined in the stabbing as of Thursday evening, police said.
Nashville Fire Department spokesman Joseph Pleasant said crews responded to the school to assist the victim and took him to Monroe Carell Children s Hospital in critical condition. Crews also took the stabbing suspect to General Hospital to be treated for a minor injury to his hand, authorities reported.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center has opened a 31,000-square-foot facility in Hendersonville that began construction just over a year ago.
Vanderbilt Health Hendersonville on Anderson Lane North in the Indian Lake community is operating its walk-in clinic with plans to add other primary care and specialty services later this month, Vanderbilt officials said.
“The issue for us is taking our brand of medicine directly to the community,” said Dr. John W. Brock III, senior vice president of Pediatric Surgical Services and Surgeon and Chief Emeritus of the Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital.
“We recognize Nashville is getting harder to get around. It’s important to take our brand of medicine to the patient. We recognize the growing nature of Hendersonville.”
