For 113 years, the Census Bureau has classified cities of at least 50,000 residents as urban areas, and communities of no less than 2,500 residents as urban clusters.
More than 1,100 cities, towns and villages in the United States recently lost their status as urban areas when the Census Bureau released a new list of places considered urban
