According to earlier HC proceedings, the Maharashtra government had failed to set precise criteria for awarding licences and regulating the activities of such taxi aggregators.
The Bombay HC has directed cab aggregators including Uber India and Ola to apply for a license under Motor Vehicles Aggregator Guidelines, 2020, to ply their cabs in Maharashtra.
The Bombay High Court on Monday directed the app-based taxi aggregators like Ola and Uber to apply for valid licenses by March 16 if they wish to continue operating while observing that their operating across Maharashtra without valid licenses was an instance of “complete lawlessness”.
