Leaf-peeping, historical sights abound along 469-mile Blue Ridge Parkway that links Shenandoah, Great Smoky Mountains national parks

This week, we’re revisiting our episode “What Is Appalachia?” from December 2021.

The park will host a variety of programs and activities to mark the historic anniversary.

A trike driver trying to avoid a tree in the road on the Blue Ridge Parkway was killed in a crash Tuesday morning, officials said.

A 71-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident Aug. 2 on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Mount Mitchell, while trying to avoid a fallen tree.

The house, with an appraised value of $835,895, sits on 62 acres with direct views of the French Broad River, Mt. Mitchell and Black Mountain.
