The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently directed its Registry to frame contempt of court charges against a lawyer for misbehaving with a judge and making comments about her family members in open court.

The Supreme Court Collegium on Tuesday recommended the names of a judicial officer and two advocates for appointment as judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court

A single bench of Justice Vishal Dhagat dismissed the plea on December 12 and also cited two previous cases in which the issued raised in the application had been settled.

It was alleged that Commercial Tax Appellate Board has encroached on the common passage of the building but no action is being taken by Indore Municipal Corporation against it.

The High Court has sought this response from the corporation on a PIL, which alleges that more than 90 per cent of the commercial buildings in the municipal limits have been used without obtaining the completion certificate.

The case was of rape on the pretext of marriage, and the court was informed that the boy's father refused the marriage on grounds of an age and caste difference between the couple.

Hearing the petition, the court asserted that "this person is not fit for the post of collector and he should be removed from the post immediately."

The high court administration has now framed standard operation procedures for a hybrid system to conduct hearings physically as well as through virtual mode, said a release issued by the HC on Thursday.
